This report documents Sri Lanka's commemoration of World Patient Safety Day on 17th September 2025, held in Colombo under the theme "Safe care for every newborn and child." The main event, attended by over 170 delegates including the Minister of Health and WHO representatives, featured the launch of a national Continuous Professional Development manual on patient safety and a digital Quality Performance Evaluation Tool for hospitals. The celebration included a panel discussion on newborn and child safety, recognition of best practices from hospitals across the country with gold, silver and bronze awards, and concluded with the Colombo Municipal Council building being lit in orange to demonstrate Sri Lanka's commitment to patient safety. The event highlighted the country's ongoing efforts to strengthen patient safety culture and improve healthcare quality, particularly for maternal and child health services.
